NEET Today’s UPDATE Information

PUBLIC NOTICE

12 June 2026

Subject: Student-Friendly Measures Introduced for NEET (UG)-2026 Examination-reg.

  1. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is committed to ensuring that NEET (UG)-2026 examination is conducted in a manner that is fair, secure and responsive to the needs of candidates. As part of this effort, a few candidate-friendly changes have been introduced for NEET (UG) 2026, scheduled to be held on 21 June 2026.
  2. Based on feedback received from candidates over the years, the examination window has been extended to 195 minutes and will be from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. This includes the time required for mandatory examination formalities such as signing of attendance sheets and other invigilation procedures. The revised examination window has been designed to ensure that candidates are able to utilize the intended examination time without feeling that administrative processes are taking away from their opportunity to attempt the paper.
  3. In addition, the space available for rough work in the question paper booklet has been increased. Candidates will now be provided with four rough-work pages instead of two, giving them more room for calculations, diagrams and other workings during the examination.
  4. Another important change relates to the design of the question paper booklet. Earlier, rough-work pages were provided only at the end of the booklet. While this arrangement worked well for many candidates, feedback indicated that it was less convenient for some, particularly left-handed candidates. To address this, two rough-work pages have now been placed immediately after the instruction page at the beginning of the booklet, while two pages will continue to be available at the end. This revised layout has been incorporated in both English and regional language versions of the question paper so that candidates can use whichever pages are more convenient for them.
  5. NTA believes that even small improvements in examination design can have a positive impact on the experience of candidates during a high-stakes examination. These measures have therefore been introduced with the objective of making the examination process more comfortable and candidate-friendly while maintaining the highest standards of fairness and security.
  6. Candidates are advised to read the instructions given in the Admit Card and Information Bulletin carefully and cooperate with the examination staff for the smooth conduct of the examination

NATIONAL TESTING AGENCY

PRESS RELEASE
Date: 12 May 2026

Subject: NEET (UG) 2026 Decision on the Examination of 3 May 2026

In continuation of its press release dated 10 May 2026, the National Testing Agency wishes to inform candidates, parents, and members of the public of the following decisions taken in respect of NEET (UG) 2026. NTA had, on 8 May 2026, referred the matters then under consideration to the central agencies for independent verification and necessary action, consistent with its standing commitment to the fair, secure, and credible conduct of the national examinations entrusted to it.

  1. On the basis of the inputs subsequently examined by NTA in coordination with the central agencies, and the investigative findings shared by the law enforcement agencies and in order to ensure that there is transparency in the system, the National Testing Agency, with the approval of the Government of India, has decided to cancel the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on 3 May 2026, and to re-conduct the examination on dates that will be notified separately.

The inputs received by NTA, taken together with the findings shared by the law enforcement agencies, established that the present examination process could not be allowed to stand. The re-conducted examination dates, along with the re-issued admit-card schedule, will be communicated through the official channels of the Agency in the coming days.

  1. The Government of India has further decided to refer the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations therein. NTA will extend full cooperation to the Bureau and will provide all materials, records, and assistance the inquiry requires.
  2. This decision has been taken in the interest of students and in recognition of the trust on which the national examination system rests. The Agency is conscious that re-conduct will cause real and significant inconvenience to candidates and their families. NTA does not take that consequence lightly. The decision has been taken because the alternative would have caused greater and more lasting damage to that trust.
  3. The registration data, candidature, and examination centres opted for in the May 2026 cycle will be carried forward to the re-conducted examination. No fresh registration will be required, and no additional examination fee will be levied. In addition, fees already paid, will be refunded to the students and the exam will be re-conducted using NTA’s internal resources.
  4. Further communications, including the re-conducted examination dates and the re-issued admit-card schedule, will be issued through the official channels of the Agency. Candidates and parents are requested to rely only on these official channels and to disregard unverified reports circulating on social media.
